The Impel Story

Impel – to drive forward, propel.

Having worked closely together in a previous agency we realised we shared very similar values in how we think clients and candidates should be serviced, and it was from here our Impel journey began.

We strongly believe in a transparent approach with equal emphasis on both the candidate and client. Having been on the receiving end of both sides we understand recruitment can be a stressful process, which is why at Impel our aim is to create a simple and uncomplicated approach.

Combined we have over 20 years’ recruitment and industry experience which has allowed us to build strong relationships throughout the Australian market. We understand our clients and believe in our candidates.

My background was originally within the banking space both in Sydney and London. Over a 10 year period, I was involved in working a variety of back and middle office positions for both international and domestic banks. After returning from London in 2011 I decided to make a career change and joined a start-up recruitment company which focused on the banking operations sector. I spent close to 6 years’ in the role before moving across to another boutique agency where I led a team of 5, across a variety of roles. I am proud of the long-term relationships I hold with both clients and candidates which I am excited to maintain and build upon with Impel.

After graduating with a BSc in Psychology back in 2011 I was unsure of what to do with my career. I registered with 1st Recruitment (Jersey, Channel Islands) in the hunt for a job and after initially going in as a candidate I was offered a role as a Recruitment Consultant, which is where my recruitment journey began. I managed a busy Temp desk recruiting across all specialists, allowing me to gain knowledge in various job markets. After 4 years’ there, I made the decision to go travelling and fell in love with Sydney, which I now call home. I have had experience recruiting in the Sydney market across digital marketing, banking & financial services and most recently I carried out an internal recruitment role within media. It made sense to me that the next step in my career would be to start my own agency and really embed the skills I have gained throughout my profession.

My journey to becoming a recruiter started 7 years ago when I left the UK to start my travels. I was given the opportunity to work on a luxury Resort as a Guest Service Agent where I discovered my passion for customer care and customer service. Since then I progressed up through the ranks in multiple 5* Luxury properties within Australia & New Zealand and have developed a thorough understanding of all aspects of hotel operations, finance and budgeting. After years of recruiting within Hotels, I decided to take the step away and build my own hospitality recruitment desk for an agency in Auckland and really thrived within that environment. I am excited to bring my hospitality knowledge to Impel and help drive the company’s diversity forward. My willingness to succeed and help others will make me a great contact for you to have when you’re looking for your dream job.

We understand a job search can be a taxing experience and therefore aim to take any unnecessary pressure off you, from initial consultation right through to the start date of your new role we are here every step of the way.

Interview prep

Impel will provide you thorough face to face interview preparation ahead of your interview as well as practice interview questions. We will walk through who you will be meeting with, the job description in detail, background on the client and latest company information giving you the best possible opportunity to succeed in your interview.

Following your interview, we will discuss in detail the feedback both of yours and the clients and provide next steps from here.
